TIMGAD MUSEUM
Museum housing columns, steles and statues from the thermal baths, Byzantine fort, mansions, gardens and streets of Timgad.
At the entrance to the archaeological town at the edge of the new urban area, the museum, opened in 1930, houses the finds unearthed during the excavations. The large courtyard is dedicated to columns, bas-reliefs, steles and statues from the thermal baths, the Byzantine fort, the houses and gardens and the streets of Timgad. In addition to everyday objects and jewels, the rooms feature mosaics, often with geometric motifs, which adorned the floors of the wealthiest homes. The door in the first room comes from a chapel.
