HIPPONE MUSEUM
A museum housed in a former barracks, where you can discover statues and steles in rooms adorned with splendid mosaics.
To the left of the entrance, at the top of the small Gharf El-Artran hill overlooking the ruins, you must visit this museum housed in a former barracks later converted into a prison - if you are not turned away by an unmotivated staff. In the courtyard, statues and steles; in the halls, splendid mosaics in excellent condition. Among these fine works, one shows an interesting map of Hippo as it was then. Also on display are everyday objects such as lamps, glassware and pottery.
