IMMIDIR
The dark, jagged Tassili of In Salah is distinguished by its sandy dunes and numerous springs.
South of In Salah, the Immidir is a tassili (sandstone plateau) bordered by the Tefedest mountain range to the south and the Adrar n'Ahnet mountain range to the west, both part of the Hoggar. Dark and jagged, sometimes softened by tongues of sandy dunes, the massif is cooled by numerous springs that flow into its canyons. The Immidir is rather difficult to cross and still little known, despite its extremely beautiful landscapes and archaeological treasures, such as rock paintings and pre-Islamic monuments.
