AOUENGHAT
Site located in Sefar, renowned for its paintings evoking a "masked god", the famous "white lady" and Henri Lhote's Antinéa.
Around 1 hour's walk south-east of Jabbaren, and at an altitude of 2,000 m, on a mirror-like sandstone massif, the paintings at the Aouenghat site date back to the Round-Headed Man period and the Bubale period. Among the magnificent subjects on display are a "masked god", the famous "white lady" and Henri Lhote's Antinéa, a reference to the Tin Hinan princess who is said to have ruled the Tuaregs in the 4th century BC. A beautiful hike that will take you on a tour of local wonders and revive your spirit.
