This Moorish-style synagogue bears witness to the importance of the Jewish presence in the capital.
Built between 1905 and 1910, this Moorish-style synagogue is the largest in southeastern Europe. Its superb architecture is even more dazzling on the inside than on the outside! The small museum adjoining the synagogue traces the history of the Jews in Bulgaria through English texts, photos and traditional objects. The free guided tour in English is very detailed. The building bears witness to the importance of the Jewish presence in the capital.
