Founded in 1904, this theater is one of Sofia's landmarks, marking its urban landscape.
A splendid building. It's one of Sofia's symbols, marking the cityscape. The theater, named after a committed Bulgarian writer and poet from the late 19th century, was founded in 1904 and the building completed in 1907, in the style of German classicism with many Belle Époque elements. The auditorium and balconies seat 850. There are also two cafés-théâtres. The national troupe features talented actors, with productions by Bulgarian directors.

incontournable

The building is remarkable for its red. Opposite the theatre a park with its fountains with water jets and its tall trees is. It is the ground for chess players and are every afternoon, accompanied by curious who follow the game carefully. Photo exhibitions are often held in its alleys.
