PARLIAMENT (СЪБРАНИЕ СЪБРАНИЕ)
Monumental neo-Renaissance building near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, where parliamentary debates are held.
Close to Nevski Cathedral, this monumental building houses parliamentary debates. The neo-Renaissance building, designed by Serbian architect Konstantin Jovanović, was erected between 1884 and 1886. In September 2020, the National Assembly deserted the building for the former home of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Largo, but only for a few months! This was because the new majority had rejected the communist legacy. Since then, the building has seen a succession of political crises.
