A stone building whose two-storey cells show the different periods in which the prison was used.
This building was erected for the Ottoman authorities in 1845 to ensure the transfer of prisoners. It remained in use until 1954. Many Bulgarian freedom fighters spent time here before being transferred to Roussé or Sofia for trial and sentencing. On two floors, you'll discover the cells and torture chambers. A rather trying visit, but one that has the merit of bearing witness and preserving memory.
