This beautiful church dedicated to the Holy Virgin (in Bulgarian: Храм "Успение на Пресвета Богородица") was partly destroyed by fire during the events of April 1876. There are beautiful frescoes, most of which date from the late nineteenth century.
The memorial of the April revolt (in Bulgarian: Паметник "Априлци") which is located right next to it pays tribute to those who resisted the Ottoman Empire and died for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria.
