SVETA NEDELYA CHURCH (СВЕТА СВЕТА)
This superb little Orthodox church in the old town is richly decorated with icons painted by Dimitar and Zahari Zograph.
A superb little Orthodox church in the old town, built in 1833 by Petko Petkovo (the architect, not the soccer player of the same name, as you may have guessed). Sveta Nedelya is a false basilica with three naves, the middle of which is supported by twelve columns in reference to the twelve apostles. The walnut iconostasis was carved by the artist Yane Spirov. It is richly decorated with icons painted by Dimitar and Zahari Zograph. We recommend a visit.
