This imposing theater is an exceptional vestige of the early century, during the reign of Emperor Trajan.
The imposing theater benefits from a beautiful sight on Plovdiv. Discovered in the 1970's under 15 m of earth, restored until 1981, before being shown to the public, it is an exceptional vestige dating from the beginning of the 2nd century under the reign of Emperor Trajan. It was badly damaged in the 4th century, probably following an earthquake. It can accommodate up to 3,000 spectators and is used for operas, folk concerts and other open-air shows.
