TOMB OF SAINT JEAN DE RILA
Charming rock-encrusted chapel housing the tomb of one of the founding monks of the Rila monastery.
You will discover the tomb of one of the founding monks of the Rila monastery, in its charming chapel embedded in the rock. It is about an hour and a half walk from the monastery, following a steep path through the nature. It is also possible to get there by car by continuing the road after the monastery and parking at a designated parking lot (15 minutes uphill). This is the original burial place of the saint. It is located near the cave where he lived as a hermit and where he died.
