SOURP KHATCH ARMENIAN CHURCH
This vast church bears witness to the importance of the Armenian community in Bourgas when it was built in 1855.
This charming Church of the Holy Cross (Арменска църква "Сурп Хач"), located downtown behind the Hotel Bulgaria, is an Armenian apostolic church. Its construction dates back to the 17th century. It bears witness to the importance of Bourgas' Armenian community. This community grew stronger after the genocide of 1915, when Bulgaria opened its borders to Armenian refugees from the Ottoman Empire. Next door is a memorial to the Armenian genocide.
