ST. SAVIOR'S CHURCH
A small church built during the Ottoman period and home to the city's finest frescoes and engravings.
In Bulgarian: Свето Възнесение Господне. This small, low church without a bell tower is home to probably the most beautiful frescoes and engravings in the city. These date back to the 17th century. The Church of St. Savior is the only one that was built during the Ottoman period (between 1453 and 1878), in 1609. It is also known as the Church of the Ascension or Sveti Spas. It has long housed the tomb of a Byzantine princess which is now in the archaeological museum of Nessebar. Enter it for its well-preserved artistic wealth.
