This ruined edifice was Nessebar's religious center in the days when the town managed itself without outside authority.

Built around the5th century, this ruined church was the religious center of Nessebar at the time when the city managed itself without external authority. Destroyed once, it was rebuilt in the 9th century and looted in 1257 during the Venetian sack. Today only three naves, two high walls with vaults and the choir remain. The Basilica of Saint Sophia remains very impressive and beautiful. One can go on the vestiges.

Toujours aussi belles ces églises, on ne s'en lasse pas, et celle ci est vraiment très photogénique et son emplacement est remarquable avec d'anciennes maisons en son pourtour, bien sûr trop de commerces, mais tourisme oblige!

La cour intérieure avec ses corridors extérieurs est vraiment magnifique.
Un endroit à visiter absolument car il ne fait pas pour rien partie du patrimoine mondiale de l'UNESCO.
