ORTHODOX CHURCH
Orthodox church in Rakvere dedicated to the martyred priest Sergy Florinsky and housing his relics.
This church is dedicated to the priest Sergy Florinsky, born in 1873. During the First World War, when Estonia was invaded by German troops, he was arrested and considered an active representative of the old reactionary regime. He was shot dead on December 26, 1918. Buried in Rakvere, he was proclaimed a holy martyr by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2002, and his coffin was opened. His relics have been installed inside the church and can be viewed. Only his hands are visible, but it's still quite impressive.
