SWEDISH LION
Statue of a lion inaugurated on November 19, 2000 on the belvedere to commemorate the Battle of Narva.
This lion statue was unveiled on the belvedere on November 19, 2000, in commemoration of the Battle of Narva in 1700. This battle saw the victory of the Swedish king (hence the effigy of the lion, very present in the country's heraldry) over the superior troops of Peter the Great. A visit here is a must if you want to enjoy a breathtaking view of the two fortresses facing each other: Narva and Ivangorod. A unique feature of the European landscape not to be missed!
