Medieval church with a Baroque touch in Viljandi, once used as a grain store.
The medieval church of St. John (Jaani kirik), last renovated in the late 18th century, has a Baroque touch. During the Soviet occupation, it was used as a grain store. The candlesticks and furnishings therefore come from other churches in the region. The foundations of the original church can be seen in the basement. In 1989, the church was restored to its original function, and the first Christmas mass was celebrated here in 1991.
