Built under Emperor Marc Aurèle'reign between 161 and 179, perhaps at the location of a ammonite temple, it is the oldest monument of the very powerful Philadelphia. The Romans worship their half god, Hercules, for which they had erected a gigantic statue. Some fragments of the latter were found.
But there is not much left of the temple, if it is the big columns, visible from afar, and the lintel. A little to the east, you can see the remains of Roman fortifications.

Même si le temple est en ruine, les colonnes restent immenses et le morceau de la main laisse imaginer la taille de la statue qu'avaient érigé les Romains (voir photo)

Très beaux vestiges
Les restes de ce temple mythique placé sur une colline au centre même d'Amman vous donne une vue panoramique sur la capitale jordanienne. Conseil resté en haut à l'heure de la bière afin d'entendre toutes les mosquées de la villes vibrer ensemble et faire monter le son jusqu'à vous.

Il ne reste pas grand chose en effet mais les quelques colonnes sont tes belles avec la vue sur Amman
