PHILOSOPHER'S STONE MUSEUM
An atypical museum housing a collection of mineral samples, with stones from the region, and photographs.
Located in the old house of the public weights and the guard of the square, known as "de la bascule", this atypical museum shelters a collection of more than 1 200 samples of minerals, gathered by Gérard Astier, experienced mineralogist. Stones from the region such as barytes, aragonites, amethysts are exhibited, as well as those from other French regions. Photographs retrace the conquest of the philosopher's stone, which was supposed to transform the vile metal into gold.
