A good place to learn about the history of Pangani.
Opened in 2015 in a 19th-century house renovated for the occasion, this center pays tribute, through a dozen explanatory panels, to the history of Pangani: the colonial town in the 19th century, with its green promenade and its hundred or so Indian stores. An economic prosperity that benefited from the Germans' complacency towards slavery, when they took the town back from the Omanis in 1888, the human trade having been banned by the British in 1873...
