Padel - not to be confused with stand-up paddle - is a racket sport similar to tennis in the way it is played, but on a smaller court, and also to squash, as the balls can be played after bouncing off the wall. It is played on electric blue courts framed by glass and mesh, and the rackets are solid. Zanzibar now boasts two padel courts, associated with the new Breeze and Labili residences in Kiwengwa, illuminated by lights at night, when it's cooler to play.
