A bright, modern yet simple new address for budget travelers, centrally located on Bwejuu beach, right on the front line. Pia and Amish give guests a warm welcome, and the rooms are charming, with ceiling fans and mosquito netting. Some superior upstairs suites enjoy spectacular views and have a covered terrace with a bed. The food in the restaurant is delicious and fresh, and just as good as the breakfast. Self-service bikes, masks, kayaks and water shoes.

I'm rewriting this review as it seems that my original review was never properly posted.
We stayed at the African Paradise this past October of 2023 and spent a week there.
I've travelled quite a lot, and have stayed at places of all kinds at all price points all around the world.
I've come to accept over the years that I'm biased towards being critical of customer service, often to the exasperation of my partner. I say this to provide context to the following:
I can truly say without any reservation that Pia and Hasim have provided us with the best, most thoughtful, personalized, and genuine service I have ever encountered from any business anywhere at any price point.
They are really wonderful people that really care about their guests.
They are very knowledgeable of the area and gave us lots of great advice on what to see and do.
Like others have posted, I too was very dubious of the exceptionally high number of five star reviews African Paradise, but Hasim and Pia are the real deal, and their wonderful establishment is the best value for money by far I've had the pleasure of staying in. Not just in Zanzibar, but anywhere.
The pictures provided by others reviewers are all very accurate, and much nicer than anything I would be able to post.
They have a few kitchen staff and servers, and also employ a grounds keeper / gardener and a Masai security guard who also assists with groundskeeping.
Every one of them is friendly and professional. My partner is a native Swahili speaker, and we learned so much about Masai culture and life on Zanzibar from speaking to them. It was great!
As mentioned by others, Pia and Hamid provide canoes which are free to use, and the staff were quick to help us bring them out to and from the water. We never used the bikes which were free for us to use as we preferred to walk, but it's great that they provide the option.
Hamid and Pia, I hope you read this. Kissa and I really want to thank you for the amazing time we had staying with you, and we wish you all the best! We'll definitely be staying with you when we next come to Zanzibar.

When I was planning our Zanzibar trip I found The African Paradise and I spent at least an hour to figure it out if it’s fake or not since the reviews everywhere were so great . Now I can tell it’s really a 10/10 stay!:) we loved it sooo much!
First the hosts are amazing, super friendly, kind, want to make sure you enjoy your holidays as much as you can.
They helped us organizing our trips around the island, we got FREE! wine at 5pm, boat tours, kayaks, bikes and basically if we needed anything they just made it for you, like in my case: fruits, antibacterial cream.
Also the people working around the hotel /restaurant are great, very polite, kind and smile:)
The atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxing, none bothering you with offers and souvenirs. The tide process is amazing, we loved it, walking or just watching the low tide as well. Max 15people which makes it spacious, even on full load we didn’t feel crowded.
And as extra they have super lovely dogs:)
To be honest I could continue this enumeration of positive things for a looong time, but I think you should just book it and feel the care and chill we had here with its people.
All in all I think the best accommodation I ever had! If we will be in Zanzibar again, no question were we will stay!:)

True paradise, absolutely earned a 10/10. I have travelled a lot but never had experienced such great hospitality. The place is a gem and the entire team make you so welcome and feel at home. It feels like a home away from home. The atmosphere is chilled and it is easy to enjoy your privacy but also to talk to other guests. I can 200%. Recommend! Cheers to Hamish and Pia, hope to be back some day ????
