Hotel offering the most spacious huts of the bay, all in curves, a few meters from the beach.

This hotel is one of the most chic addresses in Kilwa. It offers the most spacious huts in the bay, all curved, a few meters from the beach, really fabulous and unspoiled here, with hammocks swinging between palm trees. No air conditioning, but a fan and the sea breeze that comes to caress your face when you open the door. Shower with hot water and safe with key in each room. The restaurant offers only seafood (king mackerel, tuna, shrimps, squids...), it's an excellent place to eat.

Visited in february 2023

We stayed 3 nights at Kilimbilio as first stop on our southern Tanzania trip. It is a great base to visit the UNESCO world heritage sites Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara, (half) day trips are easily organised at the lodge. The lodge is practically on the beach, which is quiet during the day but late in the afternoon it comes to life with families from the nearby fishing village on their afternoon stroll and children swimming in the sea, all with a very calm vibe. You can watch the dhows and canoes returning to the small harbour from the deck. Food is amazing, we had fresh fish, lobster and octopus. Highly recommended.
