Fourteenth century palace, located high above the Husuni Kubwa beach, in Kilwa Kisiwani.
Located high above the beach, Husuni Kubwa, built in the 14th century, is composed of three rectangular parts, juxtaposed in an L shape. From the beach, one enters the first part of the building, which consists of small rooms. On a wall on the right is a drawing of a boat, probably made by a Portuguese sailor, as the rigging seems to indicate. The central part of the palace was once topped by a huge dome 30 m high. Finally, at the end on the right, the baths have a superb octagonal basin.
