A remarkable palace with fort and mosque in Kilwa Kisiwani.
A huge triangular enclosure of buildings, including the mosque to the northeast and a fort to the west. The fort has a classical baffled entrance, many small rooms and a circular tower in its northwest corner. Inside, one can observe stone benches... To the east of the palace is a small domed mosque, all the domes of which are decorated with stucco sculptures or porcelain inlays imported from Islamic countries. Its construction dates back to the 15th century. Bats have taken up residence here.
