We stayed here for a night while we were moving from Tanzania to Zambia. The rustic style decor of the property with modern amenities is awesome. They allow pets, we were traveling with our dogs, the staff and service is great too.

Excellent lodging, nice garden, good pool and Esther is a very friendly and wam hostess.

However when we needed good support after we found we left our camera behind, things went downhill. Our guide called immediatly, but Esther was not around (in church, which is fine of course!). One of the employees answered our first phonecall, and did the search for our camera. She found it, but didnt call back as was promised. After many texts and persistant calls, she finally texted. Then our guide had to pull a lot of strings to arrange a pickup in which he succeeded! Simbanwenni continued to not answer phonecalls and rarely on texts (still saying esther was in church).
It was the perseverance of our guide that lead to a good result, despite the disinterest of the employee of simbamwenni. Many, many thanx to our guide. I think Ester has to have a good conversation with her employee....

So.. Esther was really kind to us, very friendly host. The tents were nice as well. However, we forgot our camera here, while 2 hours on the way to Dar es salaam with a flight to catch 1 day later. The moment we realised we forgot our camera, our guide immediately called Simbamwenni. The owner was in church when we called, which is no problem at all of course, so one of the women of the staff was going to check. However, because it was quite important, we were so frustrated when this woman just would not answer our calls!! Our driver and my family were so stressed and frustrated when she was just not seeing how important it was for them to respond quickly, when she was blatantly ignoring us. Such a pity because the rest of Simbamwenni truly is very nice!

The pool was dirty with insects and debris from the surrounding vegetation but atleast it was something in the small town of Morogoro.

This place is gorgeous, attractive environment, lots of birds, welcoming hosts and attentive staff. I stayed in a tent for three nights and found it clean, with comfortable bed, the extra blankets were welcome as it was June, but there was also a fan for warmer months. There are bathrooms in the tents these days with plenty of hot water in the shower, a real treat. Simbamwenni is a great stopping off place on the way to Mikumi or Ruaha, but it's also a great place to spend a few days chilling by the pool, watching monkeys play in the trees or spotting brightly coloured birds in the beautiful grounds. You don't even have to go out to eat! The breakfasts are good with different types of eggs or pancakes and even granola (I haven't seen this in Tanzania before). I ordered dinner on two nights and had a good vegetarian option one night and a tasty chicken curry the other. There is a comfortable lounge area for relaxing or catching up with a bit of work (it has good WiFi) or you have your own veranda. I will be back!

We traveled with a group of 14 people in low-season. We didn't stay in the cottages but camped there (with our own tents)
There location is very beautyful with a swimmingpool and a toilet block with shower.
Near the swimmingpool is a chilling area there and also a little bar. Very friendly staff.
Perfect place to stay for a few days or more

We didn't stay. Just a description of what we saw.
We beeped at the gates..Noone answered , we beeped again and again..and finaly someone answered.
We stopped the car and a grouchy lady told us to repark it . Then she showed us a tiny tent room. We asked for a different room and she showed us a bigger room with not looking fresh sheets .
Property looks unkempt. It looks like a farm . And smells like a farm . There was a strong smell of cow maneuver. One good thing was that bigger house had a pretty view.
We asked if there is anyone staying at the property as we didn't see any other cars or any other people and she said No.
We didn't want to stay at deserted looking property and price was 250k for a normal big room not a tent so we left.
The grouchy lady kept talking about some hotel in the area that it's better for us and we can eat there nyama choma. Not sure what she meant by that but it sounded like she is making sarcastic remarks.
We found a place nearby for 225k with is a 4* hotel .
This property needs a good cleaning up and landscaping. Also something has to be done about cows smell. Also manager lady needs attitude adjustment and may be wash her dress which had a big spot in front .

We really enjoyed our stay with Esther! She is a very caring person and this place is really nice for a stay in Morogoro.
Everything is very clean, comfortable and well taken care of.
We especially enjoyed a dip in the pool after a long day of hiking.

Thanks for everything!

Even if only for all the birds!
Visited in july 2022
This place is a paradise for bird lovers (and other animal / nature lovers). What a delight to wake up in a luxurious tent with vervet monkeys playing in the trees above you and to see the sun set while watching the numerous birds (bee eaters, kingfishers, sunbirds, etc) along the reeds at the riverside, as part of the 'bird walk' they've created on their own land. The owners are very kind and knowledgable and happy to show you around. We loved to learn about all the plants too. No need to book a safari while staying here!
