Small museum recalling the conflict between the inhabitants of the region and the German invaders.
This small museum recalls the conflict between the inhabitants of the region and the German invaders: the Maji Maji War, which lasted from 1905 to 1907. Nearby is the grave of Chief Songea Luwafu Mbano who was beheaded on 27 February 1907 along with about 50 other tribal leaders in one of the bloodiest and most sordid executions of the colonial period. A ceremony is held every year on this date at the memorial.
