The Mbeya Evangelical Church (MEC) is very active in Mbeya, running a hospital and hostels that are welcoming, clean, well-run and low-cost. Each room has a private bathroom, a little cramped and spartan, but functional with hot water, and a mosquito net. Excellent breakfasts and meals. This one is located in the Forest district near the University while another MEC centre, Ifisi Community Center, is even cozier and in a natural setting, 16 km from Mbeya.
