Two trains per week between Dar es Salaam and Kigoma via Tabora, Dodoma and Morogoro. Departure from Dar Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 9pm and from Kigoma Thursday and Sunday at 9pm. The Kigoma-Dar journey takes one and a half days by Express train and two and a half days by conventional train. Allow at least 12 hours of travel time for Tabora, 24 hours for Dodoma, 33 hours for Morogoro and 39 hours for Dar. Inquire at the station for fares and departure days, as tickets are booked only a few days in advance directly at the station anyway. Prices vary according to the class chosen and the distance covered, make sure you take a berth in case of very long distances. The 2 to 6-bed sleeping cabins have a small sink and access to the restaurant on board the train for meals.
