The entrance fees, the most expensive in Tanzania for a national park, are justified by the high number of visitors compared to the area. The park can only be visited on foot, but you can only get there by water taxi (also expensive), ideally in the periods February to June and November to mid-December. A guide is required to enter the park, the visit is limited to 1 hour to avoid disturbing the chimpanzees and payment is by credit card or Tanapa prepaid card only. Tanapa offers cheap rest houses or tents.
