The ferry, built in 1960, sometimes encounters mechanical problems and sometimes remains in repair for weeks. It is therefore necessary to check with the port whether or not it is in operation.
When boarding and disembarking, be very careful with pickpocketing, even if the waters of Lake Victoria are not as poorly frequented as those of Tanganyika. Mwanza-Bukoba (180 km), departure on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 9pm, for arrival the next morning at 6am. There are only 8 first class cabins (2 berths per cabin). Sheets are provided.
