SUKUMA MUSEUM
Museum offering an interesting insight into the Sukuma culture, the largest ethnic group in the country.
Created in 1968 by a Canadian priest, this museum offers an interesting insight into the Sukuma culture, the largest ethnic group in the country. This ethnic group has long prospered through cotton cultivation and cattle breeding. The museum describes the habits and customs of this Bantu tribe from the east of the lake, especially known for its colourful dances, organized at the end of the visit (optional) with the famous "snake dance" and its gigantic snake! On Sunday, a mass is held in Swahili, with local songs and traditional instruments.
