CLAUDE DOZORME (BOUTIQUE D'USINE)
For more than 100 years, the Claude Dozorme factory has been creating luxury products in its workshop located near Thiers, the French cutlery capital. It has received the label Entreprise du patrimoine vivant and adheres to the Esprit de Thiers label.
History. It all began in 1902 at La Monnerie, near Thiers. Blaise Dozorme, who mastered the handling of steel perfectly, decided to take advantage of this know-how by setting up a small cutlery workshop in his house. Working mainly as a subcontractor, his professionalism and sharp sense of duty give him a certain notoriety in the Thiers area. Taken over by his son Valentin in 1918, the small workshop traces its path, establishing a little more its know-how and its imprint in the Thiers cutlery landscape. But it was in the 1970s that the family business really took off. At the head of the company and concerned to work on the development of the workshop, Claude, son of Valentin and grandson of Blaise, supported by his wife Eliane, had the audacity to invest massively in tools and innovation. He therefore decided to manufacture his knives in his own name and market them mainly through trade fairs. The Claude Dozorme brand was born at the dawn of the 1980s, just like its first creation, imagining the first non-closing Laguiole on the market. In 1991, another rebound. Claudine Dozorme, Claude's daughter, took over the torch and revolutionized the family factory by taking over the marketing and sales branch. Ultimately, on December 5, 2013, Claudine Dozorme, who is also a holder of the Order of Merit and Legion of Honour, was awarded the Auvergne trophy for her dynamism, creativity and innovation, which have successfully forged a new economic model for the family business.
