El Kab and the rock paintings - Tour
This tour by car takes you south along the Nile. After about an hour and a half's drive, you'll reach El Kab, formerly Hierakonpolis, one of the most important cities of the Pharaonic era.
You'll visit some fascinating tombs and stroll to two small but impressive temples, one of which was built by Amenophis III, deep in the desert. The path between the tombs and the last temple stretches for around 4 kilometers, but it's an easy walk through a striking landscape.
On the way to the last temple, you'll discover something absolutely unique: an enormous boulder adorned with prehistoric paintings, as well as numerous other graffiti dating from later Pharaonic periods. This bears witness to the presence of settlers in the El Kab region thousands of years ago, and to the importance of this area in the past. As this is a little-visited area, you'll come across very few other visitors.
After the tour, the car will take you back to Luxor. This is an all-day excursion.
Deir el Medina - Ramesseum tour
You start this tour from the ticket office. After 10 minutes, you'll reach Deir el Medina, the workers' village. You'll visit two small, magnificent tombs featuring numerous scenes depicting life thousands of years ago, as well as the ancient village itself and the small Ptolemaic temple.
Next, you'll cross an impressive valley offering breathtaking panoramic views. This valley is known as the "Valley of Colors" due to the many natural colors used in the paintings of Pharaonic tombs that have been discovered here.
Continue your walk to the Tombs of the Nobles. If you wish, you can visit two impressive tombs along the way. Then it's on to the magnificent Ramesseum, the fabulous temple of Ramses II, with its huge shattered statue of the famous pharaoh and magnificent wall decoration.
After being overwhelmed by all these new impressions, you can relax and take a break at the Ramesseum café before returning to "Nile House" or continuing with other activities. The complete tour lasts around 4 hours and is guided. Transport will take you from the ticket office to the Ramesseum and back.
