JANAKLEES FOR VISUAL ART
This association was founded in 2011 by a group of Alexandrian filmmakers shortly after the waves of revolutionary uprisings that shook the region. The aim of this collective is to help artists fulfil their role in the current social and political struggle of society. By offering spaces to artists, and residencies lasting several months or even several years, the association tries to help artists fill the gap between artists and society, feed local artists and help them cooperate with artists from around the world. The collective also encourages artists to use video as a means of expressing their opinions and to produce creative and innovative works of visual art.
