CHATBY TOMBS
Ancient necropolis with 3 burial chambers and a collection of Greek terracotta statuettes.
This necropolis is the oldest of the ancient city; it dates from the 4th and 3rd centuries B.C. There are three burial chambers, the most remarkable of which is located deep inside the tomb; two funerary beds forming an incomplete triclinium are carved there. The layout of this tomb is more reminiscent of a Greek dwelling house than of a tomb. The necropolis no longer has much of an appearance, yet it has preserved, before being uncovered, a large collection of Greek terracotta statuettes, known as Tanagra.
