ROYAL JEWELRY MUSEUM
Museum featuring rare pieces of jewelry belonging to the Egyptian royal family, including the crown of Princess Cheweikar.
It is in the palace of Princess Fatma al-Zahraa Heydar, descendant of Muhammad Ali, that the jewelry palace took place. Built in 1919, the princess lived there while in 1952 the royal family's property was confiscated; she gave it to the state in 1964, and it became a museum in 1986. The palace houses various pieces of jewellery that once belonged to the Egyptian royal family. It has nearly 700 rare pieces, including the crown of Princess Sheweikar and the chess set of Mohammed Ali set with precious stones.
