CAVAFY MUSEUM
Museum of Constantin Cavafy, Alexandrian and Greek poet, housing rare editions of his books, furniture and photos.
"Because we broke their statues, because we drove them out of their temples, the gods are not dead." Alexandrian poet Constantine Cavafy is recognized as the greatest Greek poet of the 20th century (1863-1933). Born in Alexandria, he lived and worked there in the irrigation department. It was in his apartment that the museum was established, under the control of the Consulate General of Greece. It contains rare editions of his books, furniture and photographs. An adjoining room is dedicated to one of his disciples, Stratis Tsirkas.
