QASR EL-GHOUEITA
Temple dedicated to the Theban Triad, with a breathtaking panorama, bathed in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
It is also a temple built during the Egyptian Persian period, still by Darius I. Its name means "fortress of the deep spring" in Arabic. It took place on a site already built in the Middle Kingdom and dedicated to the Theban Triad. Access to the temple is through the walls of the Roman fortress that surrounds it: only a kiosk, a hypostyle hall and the sanctuary remain. The site is nevertheless magnificent, bathed in a calm and peaceful atmosphere, with a breathtaking panorama.
