Roman fortress with various remains from different eras and almost 100 of the best-preserved mummies in the region.

This 4th century AD Roman fortress protected the border with Sudan at the time. Inside you can see various remains from different eras. It was erected by Domitian, Hadrian and Antoninus the Pious. The most important temple was dedicated to the couple Osiris and Isis. When it was discovered, archaeologists raised from the ground the "treasure of Douch" consisting of various jewels. They also brought out nearly 100 mummies from the Roman period, among the best preserved in the region. A great moment of emotion for the excavation teams.
