ISMAILIA MUSEUM
Museum displaying vases, statuettes and other objects from the Hellenistic period, with explanatory cards for each piece.
Guarded by a granite sphinx from the Middle Empire, this small museum mainly gathers vases, statuettes and various small objects from the Hellenistic period. Amongst others, we discover a sarcophagus made of Jedhor marble combining Greek and Egyptian representations as well as a magnificent gilded funerary mask from the Greek period. Explanatory cards are attached to all the pieces in the museum, which can be visited very quickly. In the centre of the main room is a beautiful mosaic from the 4th century AD.
