Gegants and capgrossos take to the streets of Barcelona on the occasion of the celebrations of Santa Eulàlia, the city's co-sponsor.

Gegants (giants), capgrossos (big heads) and other characters of Catalan folklore take over the streets of Barcelona for the Santa Eulàlia celebrations, co-patron saint of the city with La Mercè (celebrated in September). The winter Festa Major commemorates the legend of Saint Eulalia, a Christian martyr persecuted by the Romans around the year 300. In addition to the traditional parades of gegants, there are also sardana shows, correfocs (bonfires) and castells (human castles) competitions.
