A very important event in Barcelona. Popular meals, balls and orchestras punctuate the shortest night of the year.

The night of St. John's Day is a very important event in Barcelona and the rest of the region. To celebrate the summer solstice, we gather with family, friends or neighbours to throw firecrackers and light fires on the beach. Popular meals, pyrotechnic shows, balls and orchestras punctuate the shortest night of the year. The next day (24 June) being a public holiday in Catalonia, the night is particularly festive. For the occasion, we taste the traditional Sant Joan coca filled with candied fruits and pine nuts and toast to cava!
