ANELLA OLIMPICA
Olympic ring with a telecommunication tower and swimming pools, in front of the stadium, used for the gymnastics events
Located in the upper part of Montjuïc, the Olympic Oval was the setting for the main sporting events of 1992. Built to host the 1936 Games, the stadium was never used due to the outbreak of civil war. The stadium did not come into operation until 1992, when it was redesigned to accommodate 60,000 spectators. In front of the stadium, the Palau Sant Jordi, built for gymnastics events, now hosts concerts. Calatrava's telecommunications tower and Picornell swimming pools complete these installations.
