Summer residence on 4 levels with a roof terrace exhibiting a collection of 32 paintings by Francesc Torrescassana

Casa Vicens, open to the public since 2017 as a house museum, allows visitors to enter the world of the architect. Located on Carrer de les Carolines, this house was the first large-scale commission received by the young Gaudí in 1878. After a lengthy study of the project, work only began in 1883 and continued until 1885. Today, the result is considered to be the architect's first masterpiece, foreshadowing the rest of his career. Indeed, this modern, innovative project already reveals many of the elements - both structural and stylistic, decorative and symbolic - that would later characterize the Catalan modernist artist's work. Gaudí decided to build a small house, allowing him to create a garden with a waterfall that would guarantee a breath of fresh air, so pleasant under the Mediterranean sun. This choice obliged the artist to build the house on five levels: basement, first floor, bedrooms, attics and terraces. At first glance, the facade may surprise you, as we're still a long way from the curved lines characteristic of Gaudí's style. But you'll notice that the vertical columns and horizontal lines, distinguished by ceramic friezes, lend a certain movement to the whole façade. Finally, floral motifs are present both inside and out, as nature has always been a source of inspiration for the architect.

Amazing like all gaudi things
Yes it is wonderful concept to create a country side villa in the center of Barcelona. He thought that People should live outside the cities in the nature with birds, fountains, palms, trees and flowers. You add colours and some Andalusia architectural mparts and that's it
