MONTJUÏC CASTELL
Castle at the time of defense tower turned into a military museum with beautiful views of Barcelona
Once a symbol of repression, Montjuïc Castle is steeped in an eventful history. Built in 1640, it was used at the time as a defensive tower thanks to its panoramic view over the entire city. In 1842, the city was bombed from the castle to prevent revolutionary uprisings. During the Civil War, the castle served as a military prison, before being transformed in 1963 into a military museum. Today it is an interpretation centre dedicated to the history of Montjuïc, offering very beautiful views of Barcelona.
