SQUARE MONTCADA
Historic street from the 15th and 16th centuries in Barcelona with sumptuous medieval palaces
This historic street reached its peak in the 15th and 16th centuries, when noblemen and merchants who had become rich through maritime trade built sumptuous medieval palaces. Note the Palau dels Marquesos de Llió atno. 12, with its magnificent Gothic patio; the Palau Berenguer d'Aguilar (no. 15), Baró de Castellet (no. 17) and Meca (no. 19), which make up the Picasso Museum; the Palau Dalmases atno. 20, a 17th-century baroque palace that now hosts flamenco concerts; and, atno. 25, the Casa Cervelló-Guidice, with its Renaissance façade.
