The most elegant avenue in the city! Several masterpieces of modernism are concentrated here, including Casa Batlló and La Pedrera.

Passeig de Gràcia is one of the most important streets in Barcelona. On both sides of this avenue are the stores of the most luxurious brands. But Passeig de Gràcia was not always the lively boulevard we know today. At the end of the 19th century, wealthy families liked to stroll along it and acquired land with the aim of building a house on it later on. However, the Cerdà urban plan of the early 20th century, which sought to connect Plaça Catalunya with Gràcia - which was not yet part of Barcelona - changed the lives of these middle-class people. As the street suddenly became more valuable, they committed themselves to making Passeig de Gràcia the symbol of Catalan elegance and modernism, much to our delight. In fact, they called on architects such as Gaudí, Puig i Cadafalch and Domènech i Montaner, creators of the most emblematic buildings in the city. We owe them the Casa Batlló, the Casa Amatller, the Casa Lleó i Morera - which unfortunately can no longer be visited - the Casa Mulleras and, of course, the Casa Milà, better known as La Pedrera. But beyond these magnificent houses, you can admire the splendid paving stones, with plant motifs, designed by Gaudí, as well as the famous benches, designed by the architect Pere Falqués. You will recognize the trencadís mosaic, typical of Catalan modernism, that covers the benches, above which rises a beautiful wrought iron structure.
