Foundation organizing a permanent exhibition of 300 works and temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art.
The foundation, dedicated to the study of contemporary art and culture, was established in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies. The building, designed by modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner in 1882, first housed the Montaner i Simón publishing house, and later the foundation. Domènech's signature rationalist architecture is evident in the façade's exposed metal and brickwork. It also features a huge sculpture created in 1990 by Antoni Tàpies. 2024 marks the centenary of the man's birth.

Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona, 1923-2012)
Antoni Tàpies' early artistic endeavors began during a long convalescence from a serious illness, after which his growing devotion to painting and drawing led him to abandon his university studies. By the 1940s, he was exhibiting works that distinguished him on the art scene of the time. Co-founder of the magazine Dau al Setin 1948, influenced by Miró and Klee, he became increasingly interested in iconographic and magical subjects. He gradually incorporated geometric elements and color studies that led him to take an interest in matter, using highly textured canvases that offered great possibilities for expression and communication.

Byggnad är speciell man ser det redan på fasaden. Tapies har dekorerat toppen med ett av hans många verk.
På insidan finns 2 våningar, med en stor open yta i mitten. Det var intressant för mig att se en annan typ av konst, jag kan inte mycket om det.
Bibliotek på översta våningen var stängt för allmänheten och jag ville se mer. Man kunde resa tillbaka i en tid utan digitala medel och mycket papper i stället.
Det var värt att besöka!
